Intravenous therapies contribute to current practice in symptom management. Professional guidelines state that practitioners must demonstrate competence in administering medication, whatever the route

(NMC 2008).

This day will:

• identify indications for intravenous therapy
• provide opportunity to practice drug calculations
• be aware of intravenous access devices including Hickman, Groshung and PICC lines
• practice practical aspects of administering intravenous additives

There will be a calculations test.

This day will run on 9th May and 15th November 2011 from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm at St Catherine's Education and Training Centre and costs £85 including handouts and refreshments
