Education and training is delivered in partnership with other education and healthcare providers to ensure a range of diverse opportunities are available to meet the needs of the local healthcare population.
We provide clinical placements for pre- and post- registration students undertaking programmes (in both nursing and occupational therapy) with the Universities of Surrey and Brighton. Members of the clinical and the education teams also deliver teaching in end-of-life care at both universities across the academic levels.
We have recently begun to teach medical students in conjunction with the Brighton and Sussex Medical School – 30 students per year.
The National Advanced Communication Skills Training Programme is being run on this site three times a year with approximately 12 students on each programme. Participants come from across the whole multi-professional team as do the trainers. The course is funded by the Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire Cancer Network
The Gold Standard Standards Framework programme for care home managers is also run from this venue. The teaching is shared between members of the National GSF Team and local facilitators. The first programme in 2006 was a great success for 100 local care homes and the 2007 programme currently has 60 care homes participating.
