These two courses can be taken as two half days or as one whole day.

Bereavement - Principles

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this session the participants will be able to:

  • describe the way loss and Loss and Grief can affect people
  • identify people who might be at risk of a difficult Bereavement
  • discuss ways to support the bereaved
  • appreciate the need to maintain professional boundaries when working with the bereaved


Bereavement - Practice

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this session participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the nature of loss
  • Recognise the manifestations of grief
  • Demonstrate techniques to support those experiencing a loss

These courses are available free of charge only to health and social care workers working in Surrey.
