St Catherine's multi-professional team

Our multi professional team provides a holistic and personalised approach to the care of our patients and their families and carers.

Specialist Community Nurses
Our community nurses provide specialist advice in addition to the care being provided by GPs, district nurses and other healthcare professionals. This allows people to be cared for in their own homes if this is what they wish.

Consultants
There are two consultants in Palliative Medicine at St Catherine’s who are responsible for leading the medical care of in-patients and they offer specialist advice to the community nurses and other professionals.

Doctors
The team includes a staff grade doctor, local GPs and other qualified doctors who spend time at St Catherine’s to gain experience in palliative medicine.

Nursing Staff
St Catherine’s has a large team of experienced palliative nurses and nursing assistants who bring their wealth of experience to caring for people when they are in-patients or attending day hospice.

Lymphoedema Nurse Practitioner
Our Lymphoedema clinic is run by two specialist Lymphoedema nurses.

Physiotherapist
Our team provides suitable physiotherapy treatments, tailored to meet patient needs.

Occupational Therapist
Our fully registered occupational therapist and technician work to help keep people mobile, active and independent.

Complementary Therapists
A team of trained professionals, specialising in massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and relaxation.

Welfare Advisor
Our welfare advisor can provide advice and support on a range of financial and practical issues like accessing statutory benefits and home mobility aids, claiming industrial compensation and arranging financial affairs.

Counsellors
Our team of counsellors respond to individual need and support patients, families and carers in the most appropriate way.

Spiritual Care Team
Spiritual care includes religious care, but also covers whatever gives a patient’s life meaning – their culture, values and relationships.
