Whether you’re thinking of cycling, trekking, horse-riding or mountaineering, we have a whole host of opportunities available to you. Below are just a few examples of challenges that our supporters have enjoyed recently but if these destinations, activities, dates or costs don’t quite suit you, please contact Jen on 01293 447364 or jenwickham@stch.org.uk as there are hundreds of options out there and we’re certain we could find something for you!

Just Walk 2012 – Saturday 12th May 2012

Just Walk is an exciting sponsored UK charity walk. It is open to anyone who is keen to get their walking boots on and hike for charity – you can choose to participate in either a 10km fundraising walk, a 20km walk, a 40km walk or a whopping 60km walk. This event offers enthusiastic walkers the chance to experience the picturesque South Downs in West Sussex and generate funds for their chosen charity.  We would like to encourage as many people as possible to take part and raise sponsorship for St Catherine’s Hospice.

London to Paris cycle challenge, 5 days

Cycling from London to Paris is one of the great cycle experiences in Europe. Passing through picturesque Kent countryside, you will cross the Channel and continue through the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France, passing the famous battlefields of the Somme and Agincourt. With long days in the saddle and some strenuous hill-climbs, the sight of the Eiffel Tower, your finishing point, will evoke a real sense of achievement.
Dates available:
16 May 2012; 13 June 2012; 1 August 2012, 5 September 2012.

Mount Kilimanjaro Trek, 10 days

The highest freestanding mountain in the world, Kilimanjaro is also the highest mountain on the African continent at 5896m. Its snow-capped summit rises high above the dusty plains and huge permanent glaciers flow down from the summit; these views are the reward for pushing your limits both physically and mentally.  The trek takes the less-trodden Machame route, allowing you to camp and fully appreciate the splendour of our surroundings and the clear night skies. You’ll pass through thick forest, moorland and scree enroute to the highest point, Uhuru Peak. This is a challenging trek at altitude, climbing one of the most impressive and well-known mountains in the world.

Dates available:
17 August 2012; 21 September 2012; 28 September 2012

Lands End to John O’Groats Cycle Challenge, 13 days

Cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats, the furthest possible distance in the British Isles, is a classic challenge that many dream of. Starting at Land’s End on the southwesterly tip of England, you’ll pedal your way through Cornwall, over Dartmoor and north along the Welsh border, skirting the Lake District into Scotland, via lochs and mountains to the North coast and John O’Groats. In all you will cover almost 1000 miles in 12 days, passing through some of the most stunning and remote countryside in the British Isles.  This is a tough challenge but a fabulous way to see the country, and one of the most rewarding things you will ever do!

Dates available:
1 May 2012; 28 August 2012
