Each year around 35p in every £1 raised to run our vital services is received from gifts that people have left in their wills.
This income is so vital that without it we simply would not be able to provide the range of services we do now. This would mean that many local people would not have the care and quality of life they deserve at the end of their lives.
Every penny really does count and a gift, whatever the amount, makes a real difference to patient care. A gift in your will is an investment in the future of the hospice to care for the next generation of those who need our help.
Here are just some of the ways your gift could benefit others:
A gift to St Catherine’s could reduce the inheritance tax on your estate
Gifts left to UK charities in a will are free of Inheritance Tax. This means that you could reduce the amount of money going to the government from your estate as a charitable bequest will be deducted before tax is calculated, reducing the overall taxable value of your estate. Everyone’s circumstances are different so we always advise that you speak to your solicitor and/or accountant to find out more.
What to do next
Making or changing your will to include a gift to St Catherine’s is usually very simple and inexpensive (your solicitor will be able to advise you on costs) but it will ensure that we can continue to provide our very special care. In making a gift to St Catherine’s you also know that every penny is being spent locally, helping local people.
