Cycling stars ride for the hospice!
23rd May 2010
The 6th Sussex Weald Bike Ride took place at Handcross Park School, Handcross on Sunday with a record number of cyclists.
It was the hottest day of the year so far - a real challenge for all our cyclists. We are so grateful to them all for coming along and pledging to raise so much money!
As well as individual riders, several teams took part, including Guy Salmon Gatwick, Carers Support Services, Team Day Hospice (members of the community team at St Catherine’s), Cycleholics, The Friday Nighters, Go Gatwick, Kates Crusaders, The Three Doubles and Aon.
We also had a “Blue Bag” collection of quality donated items, which brought in over £400 worth of goods for our charity shops, a fantastic result.
We wish to thank Rogers Ceramics for sponsoring the event and GR Sound Solutions for providing the audio equipment free of charge. Also many thanks to Wynnings and Weaver for providing a catering van.
We now look forward to receiving everyone’s sponsorship by 23rd August. That day we will enter names of everyone who has sent in their money into a draw for the chance to win one of our great prizes - a £50 voucher to spend in Evans Cycles, a lovely bike helmet or National Trust tickets. So, get your money in fast!
Lastly, thanks to our wonderful volunteer marshals who looked after everyone so well at our water stops and at the school.
