Fantastic Support for the Hospice Fair
The New Horizons Appeal Autumn Gift Fair (Thursday 22 September 2011) in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice welcomed 1,200 visitors this year.
Set on the parkland of Knepp Castle, Shipley, the rain stayed away and the sun made an appearance, as shoppers enjoyed a much larger marquee, many new and different products from those found on the high street, and tea on the lawns.
‘We had an excellent day and would like to thank all that supported this years Fair and hope they enjoyed it. We hope the Fair has raised a lot for the Hospice Appeal as the admission cost and 10% from all stallholders taking is donated,’ commented Sally Pavey, volunteer fair organiser.
During the Fair the volunteers served an estimated 1,500 cups of tea/ coffee, (milk donated by Diary Crest), washing every mugs constantly for re-use, and parked over 1,000 cars.
Wabi of Horsham pulled out all the stops to provide visitors with wonderful cuisine and the cupcakes donated by Tesco Broadbridge Heath were transformed by volunteers into ‘trendy’ cupcakes that were enjoyed by all visitors as part of the admission fee.
‘A special thank you has to go to Biffa this year as they arranged a special drive-through of Knepp Estate to collect the rubbish from the Fair, it normally ends up in volunteers cars which is very smell!’ concluded Sally.
The Preview Night (21 September) was supported by Coutts & Co. Coutts made a generous donation of £1000 and the Fair organisers were also delighted to receive another donation of £1000.
Dates for 2012's Autumn Gift Fair are 19th and 20th September. Download a stall form here to book your place at the Fair.
