An Excellent Golfing Day

The New Horizons Appeal Golf Challenge and Auction Lunch at Slinfold Golf and Country Club in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice took place on Friday 1st July and saw the defending team win Linda’s Trophy for the second year.  The winning team captained by Josh Hemsley, Richard Hemsley, Tom Patterson and Edward Jackson were triumphant and, helped by 22 teams of golfers, raised over £7,500 for the Appeal.

Chair of New Horizons Appeal, Liz Kitchen, said, ‘The day was a great success, the play was smooth with no hold up which was very good considering there were 90 players.   The BBQ was delicious and the whole programme ran to time thanks to the hard work of Gareth and Jo Brown and Frank Catlow. Everyone went away with a smile and said they would be back next year!!’

The Challenge day was started last year in memory of Frank Catlow’s late wife, Linda, and plans are already underway for next year’s event.

What is the New Horizons Appeal?

The Appeal was started in 1989 with an aim to raise capital to provide a stable base for the hospice.  The Appeal has moved on, but remains affirmed, in its efforts to help the hospice to help those that need palliative care, living with an incurable illness, at the hospice and in the community, 24 hours a day, as well as supporting friends and family. 

The Appeal continues and so we invite you to support NHA events that aim to provide you with an enjoyable experience whilst raising money for a local cause.
