The South Lodge Lunch
‘We were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and the news that The Pass had just been awarded a Michelin star that morning! They were so pleased they gave us another glass of Prosecco on the house!
The demonstration was lovely, the head chef Matt, pictured below, did Lobster risotto and everyone enjoyed watching him prepare it.

We had lots of messages of how good this lunch was and we have passed on thanks to the staff at South Lodge.
"The four course lunch was absolutely delicious from the Carpaccio through to lobster risotto with white chocolate jelly (yes odd but very good)," said Debbie von Bergen, reporting on a wonderful South Lodge lunch at The Pass.
Please see below for details of the planned lunches to date. We hope to have an extra special lunch as well, so keep an eye out for forthcoming details. Lunch numbers are limited, so please, if you do wish to attend, book a place now to avoid disappointment.

Gravetye Manor Lunch, Tuesday 8th May 2012

Gravetye Manor, West Hoathly, invites members to lunch and learn the history of a wonderful old manor house. The new head gardener will take us on a 1 hour tour of the wonderful Gravetye gardens. The gardens at Gravetye Manor are a very special place and can be considered amongst the most influential in English gardening history. Richard Infield built Gravetye Manor in 1598 for his bride, Katharine Compton. Gravetye’s most notable owner, William Robinson one of the greatest gardeners of all time, bought the Manor in 1884 and the one thousand acres in which it stands, and it was his home until he died in 1935. In 1958 Peter Herbert turned the Manor into a country hotel and restaurant of the highest standard. There will be a talk about Gravetye Manor's history and then the highly acclaimed chef will produce a special menu of 3 courses; each course accompanied by a selected wine to complement the dish. A surprise gift as we depart is also included.
Lunch and 1 hour tour is limited to 20 places and costs £65 per person. If you wish to attend please send a £10 deposit now.
