Iceland is a land of incredible contrast and beauty which many naturalists describe as one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.
With its diverse wilderness home to active volcanoes, sheer granite mountains, glaciers, thundering waterfalls, steaming lava fields, plunging fjords, boiling mud pools and spouting geysers, Iceland is undoubtedly a fascinating country to explore.
This is one trek not to be missed and one that you will certainly never forget.
Itinerary
DAY 1: You will fly from London to Reykjavik.
DAY 2: Whilst trekking on Mount Hekla you will discover the old lava flows left behind after the last eruptions in 2000.
DAY 3: Today you will visit the lakes and lava-fields of Dómadalshraun and the mountains of Landmannalauger. At the end of the day you can relax and soak away your aches in some hot springs!
DAY 4: After a challenging day trekking in breathtaking landscape, you will set up camp on the eastern shore of Álftavatn Lake.
DAY 5: Activities include visiting the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier and Markarfljotsgljúfur Canyon which is over 100m deep!
DAY 6: Stunning views of three separate glaciers as well as walking through Thor’s Wood await you today.
DAY 7: After a final day of trekking along the Krossa River, you will return to Reykjavik to celebrate your achievement!
DAY 8: Free day in Reykjavik to explore the city.
DAY 9: Fly back to London.
