Immerse yourself in ancient Peruvian culture and experience diverse scenery such as tropical Andean rainforests, the snow capped mountain ranges of the Andes and of course Machu Picchu, one of the worlds most important archaeological finds, on this amazing trek.

From high remote mountain trails to the first sight of Machu Picchu, the legendary Lost City of the Incas, this is a challenging trek predominantly at high altitude where you will climb to over 4400m.

For those of you with a passion for history, a sense of adventure and the desire to do something challenging for a great cause this is the trek for you!

Itinerary

DAY 1: You will fly from London to Lima, and stay overnight in Lima.

DAY 2: Today you will fly from Lima to Cusco. You will have the rest of the day to acclimatise yourself and explore the town of Cusco.

DAY 3: Your first day's trek takes you around Tambo Machay, an ancient ruin high in the hills above Cusco. As well as beautiful scenery and fascinating ruins, today's trekking offers you an excellent chance to acclimatise to the altitude.

DAY 4: Leaving Cusco behind you, you will head into the mountains and to the start of your trek. After following an old Incan trail over the mountain range, you will set up camp for the night at Quisuarani surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks.

DAY 5: Today sees a big climb, rising from 3700m to 4400m. On reaching Lago Kenuacocha, you will have a good view of the track leading up to the Huchayccassa pass at 4400m. The view from the pass is spectacular, with turquoise lakes below and white peaks in the distance. You will then continue on to your camp which is located at approximately 4050m above sea level.

DAY 6: As you descend from the campsite into Huacahuasi valley there are wonderful views of the mountains. You will also visit Ipsaycocha Lake before finishing for the day at Patacancha.

DAY 7: After taking a scenic train ride to Aguas Calientes, you will head up to Machu Picchu, where you will have plenty of time to explore this fantastic site. End the day by soaking your aching limbs in hot springs before returning to your hotel for the night.

DAY 8: Travelling by train and bus back to Cusco you will have the afternoon free to explore and do any last minute shopping before the evening's celebration dinner.

DAY 9: Today you will fly back to Lima from Cusco before connecting to your return flight to London.

DAY 10: You will arrive back in London tired but no doubt exhilarated!
