Tree of light

Tree of Light is a very special way to remember family and friends at Christmas time. More...

Read Peter's Story

Peter explains: "Having had a business in Burgess Hill for a number of years, Robert and I knew of St Catherine’s and regularly donated goods to their shop. Over the years - having done what we could to support the hospice – it seemed a natural progression to remember St Catherine’s in our Wills".

In autumn 2002, Peter’s partner, Robert was diagnosed with cancer and after treatment was unsuccessful, he was referred to St Catherine’s in December for end of life care.  Sadly, Robert’s condition deteriorated and he died in early January.

"I’ll never forget the care both Robert and I received. At such a difficult time, the lengths the hospice went to with nothing ever too much trouble, really struck a chord. I just don’t know what we’d have done without St Catherine’s.This isn’t something that just happens to others – it could touch any of us at any time. The team at St Catherine’s improved the quality of Robert’s life at the end whilst at the same time providing support for me up to and continuing after his death."

"I hope that by leaving a legacy to St Catherine’s, others in similar circumstances may benefit from the same kind of care we were able to receive, enabling us to make the most of the time we had together  which I’ll treasure. I owe St Catherine’s the world."
