You will be asked for certain information before starting work at the hospice. Below is a list of some checks that will be carried out, depending upon the role you are applying for.
Verification of identity
Your identity will be verified by checking one of the following: valid passport, UK driving license, original UK birth certificate, valid photo ID card (EU countries only) or UK firearms license.
Work permits
Most overseas nationals, who do not live in the UK or EU, but want to work in the UK, may require a work permit. It is the responsibility of the UK employer to obtain the work permit. Visit the Home Office website for more information.
Qualifications
Qualifications relevant to the position you have applied for will be verified once a job offer is made.
Registration
Before appointing a health professional, we will check whether you are registered with the relevant regulatory body and whether any special conditions apply.
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks
For positions involving working with vulnerable adults we will ask for a CRB check depending on the type of work you will be doing. The CRB checks police records held on the individual and gives this report to the employer and the individual. The employer will then decide whether it is appropriate to employ that individual.
References
All jobs are offered subject to receipt of three satisfactory references. At least one reference needs to be from your current or most recent employer.
Occupational Health Checks
Most positions will require an occupational health check. This is to ensure that you are fit for work and so that we can provide you with any adaptations for you to do your job, for example a special chair, keyboard etc.
