20 year old Karl McAdam, right, started volunteering at the Burgess Hill shop in the summer of 2011. “I am looking for a career in retail and volunteering seemed like a good way to get some experience while I continue my search.

“Working at the St Catherine’s Hospice shop has been amazing – in fact I wonder why I didn’t apply sooner. Everyone I work with is so helpful and charming and I feel I am developing my skills every day. I would definitely recommend shop volunteering to anyone who likes working with people.

“I’m particularly proud of the book display we have in-store, I always try to make sure we have a good selection on the shelves.”

All volunteers will receive full training and the opportunity to develop their skills.
