I walked last year for my dear Dad, and last night (into Father's Day) I did so again, adding my step father to the list. They both had hospice support, though not St C's. This is my way of helping to ensure that others can benefit in the way they did. Reading other people reasons for taking part is quite heart rending.

Myself and a group of friends are doing the walk. I lost my step dad 11 years ago at St Catherrines. He and my mum got married there 2 weeks before he passed away. Everyone made it a lovely day for them both and for the rest of the family. I there fore would love to give something back to St Catherines for making his final days peaceful and ones we can look back on a smile.

My daughter, friend and I are walking to remember a special friend, Angela, and other friends and family who have also been affected recently by cancer. Angela passed away a couple of weeks ago and was an incredible lady who fought her illness every step of the way. She was grateful for the help that St Catherine's gave her, whether it was filling in forms or just having a massage. Training (so far) has been fun although trying to find interesting walks that are long enough is proving bit of a challenge! The motivation is always there tho...remembering that however much we ache or may be tired it will never compare to what others go through!

It upsets me to read all of the comments on her because all of us have lost someone we love. I like pretty much everyone have lost 2 friends in the last year and they and their families were both supported by st catherines. I feel i need to give something back!!! So looking forward to the walk and meeting lots of new friends! Lisa Thompson.

my sister Teresa and i are walking in memory of our mum Dorothy Cook who died in St. Catherines february last year. Our mum and her friends and family all received the most fantastic treatment anyone could wish for in the curcumstanses they are the best, and we just wanted to give something back. We have got a lot of training to do though as the most walking we do is to the car!

My sister in law and I are walking in memory of my wonderful mum who died in December. St Catherines were wonderful and we are hoping to raise loads of money for the brilliant work the Hospice do.

My sister, Becky and I are doing the walk in memory of our dad Chris who was looked after by St Catherine's last year. He died on the 22nd June last year a few hours after I had finished the midnight walk. This will be the first anniversary of his death so we wanted to try and raise some money for the wonderful work of the Hospice.

Elaine, Melinda and I are walking in memory of our Eileen Butterworth, our mum (and 'adopted mum'!)who was cared for so wonderfully by St Catherine's - both at the day hospice and in her last days. It's particularly poignant for us too, because the walk is taking place on the day after the 4th anniversary of mum's passing. We are all looking forward to walking and giving back what we can to St Catherines.

My sister and I are walking in memory of our mum Stella Wood, last year we did the 26 miles Moon Walk in London in memory of our mum and support the illness she had. This year we decided to give something back to St Catherines Hospice that were so wonderful to our mum, and to us. Looking forward to the walk Tracy Rennie & Marion Millington
