Our Day Services are an important part of the care we offer at St Catherine's. The services include Day Hospice, group activities, and medical or nursing outpatient appointments or for social support (counselling, bereavement support or spiritual care and welfare) and advice appointments.
Day Hospice is an opportunity to spend time with other people in the same boat, trying new activities and building confidence whilst having an enjoyable day out. Our staff are friendly and supportive and always a listening ear if you need it. They will always ensure a warm welcome. Spending a day with us will also give your family and carers the chance to have a day off and know that you are being well looked after.
We run Day Hospice at our two sites - Crawley (West Sussex) and in Caterham (Surrey).
In Crawley our Day Hospice is located in a refurbished part of the main hospice building. We have a large area for group activities, a conservatory dining area and a new art room, all overlooking our beautiful gardens. Day Hospice in Crawley runs from 10.00 am till 3.00 pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. All meals and refreshments are included, with homemade cake in the afternoons. Transport can be provided.
St Catherine’s day services centre opened at Dormers in Foxon Lane, Caterham in mid April 2009. The building is owned by Surrey County Council’s social services department who have agreed to let St Catherine’s Hospice run the services on the site. The 8-room wing has been adapted to provide a day centre to cater for patients in the area receiving specialised end of life care. A floor plan shows the layout of the Caterham facilities.

Our activities range from those to keep minds active, to get arms and legs going, to having a laugh and trying new things. We have outside speakers, day trips, discussions, quizzes and our staff are always open to new suggestions.
Day hospice is available to all our patients, although it is not necessarily right or suitable for every patient. If you are interested in finding out more, do chat to whichever member of the team you are seeing.
