Hospitality Services

We are very proud of the hospitality we offer to our patients in Crawley.  All our meals are prepared from scratch, in our own kitchen, using fresh local produce to ensure all all nutritional standards are met.  the kitchen team

A member of the catering team will always be happy to visit you on the ward, or in Day Hospice, and discuss any questions you may have about your dietary requirements.

The menu for the week is displayed on the board in the ward corridor and if you are not tempted from the menu choice on offer we will try to meet your preference for a particular dish.

If your family or friends wish to bring in perishable food for you, we do have a patient fridge and all items need to be labelled with your name and the date.  A nurse will be able to take and collect these items from the fridge for you.
Please note that we are unable to accept responsibility for the food brought into the hospice from home and any items out of date will be discarded.

Our Coffee Shop Menu has a good choice of items - starting with an 'early-bird' menu offering breakfast and moving on to a light lunch service (including jacket potatoes, salad bowls, panini, traditional sandwiches and our famous St Catherine's Club Sandwich).

We always have fresh hospice-made cakes on offer for those with a sweet tooth and fresh fruit as well as a varied selection of hot drinks.  In addition, we sell a small range of greetings cards and personal essentials such as soap, toothbrushes, tissues etc.

The Coffee Shop is open Monday-Friday 9.00 am to 4.00 pm with a supper menu available from 4.00 pm to 6.30 pm.  The supper service is operated by volunteers and there may be occasions when it is not available but we will endeavour to inform you should this be the case.  At the weekends the Coffee Shop is open from 10.00 am to 2.30 pm.

We operate a good selection of vending services for when the counter service is closed and you can buy anything from a cup of coffee to lasagne.  Please don't hesitate to ask a member of staff should you require any assistance operating these machines.

If you wish to pre-order a sandwich to eat later, a member of the team will prepare the food and place it in our patients fridge in the main kitchen, this will be collected by one of the nursing staff and served to you.

Just recently we achieved a gold standard in the 'Eat Out Eat Well' local initiative - look out for this symbol on our menus.

Housekeeping

The cleanliness and tidiness of the wards and the public areas of the hospice is the responsibility of our dedicated housekeeping team.   The team work very closely with all the clinical departments to ensure all areas within our buildings are cleaned in line with our infection control policy and to the standards set in our housekeeping procedures.

The hospice operates an in-house laundry service which is also run by the housekeeping department.  We have a contract with an external organisation to launder larger items such as bedding and towels.

The housekeeping team is committed to creating a clean and inviting environment for patients, relatives and visitors to the hospice.
