Occupational Therapy

Two nurses with a patient in the gardenOccupational therapy is an important element of palliative care.  It enables you to retain optimal levels of independence and a sense of control, wherever possible, in all areas of your life.

Our occupational therapy team believes that it is important to your well being that you are able to continue with your everyday activities and occupations.   Their aim is to look at the impact of your illness on your lifestyle and to support you in adapting to changes - as and when they happen - and to help you continue your life as normally as possible.

The occupational therapist and occupational therapy technician work with patients, families and carers, both at home and also in the hospice.

Our occupational therapy team can help with:

  • managing everyday activities like dressing and bathing
  • anxiety management, fatigue management
  • equipment and adaptations
  • relaxation therapy
  • planning for being cared for at home
