Our Supporters

As we mark our 25th anniversary, we would like to thank the local community for the support that has helped us to reach this milestone.

The energy, commitment and contributions given by numerous individuals, groups and businesses has enabled us to develop our services.

A vital contribution has been made by the many volunteers who have participated in our work.  Each year, over 600 volunteers help in a variety of roles in the main building, our 13 charity shops and the Friends Groups.  They clock up over 1,6000 hours per week, the equivalent of 42 full time members of staff.

Other notable supporters of St Catherine's have included the Duke of Richmond and Gordon, actor Edward Fox OBE (a Vice-President), BBC newsreader Martyn Lewis and TV presenter Cliff Michelmore, who launched the New Horizons Appeal in 1990, sports commentator Jimmy Hill and Oscar-winning actress Dame Judi Dench.

"Congratulations to St Catherine's on reaching this landmark.  This local charity is close to many people's hearts, including my own.  We all recognise the vital role that St Catherine's plays in our community, offering much-needed care to people at a time when they are particularly vulnerable.  As St Catherine's looks to the future, I am sure that everyone associated with the hospice will continue to support the philosophy of care that makes their work so worthwhile."

Dame Judi Dench

"My involvement with St Catherine's goes back to the very early planning stages, when the hard work and vision of many local people enabled us to succeed.  Despite the magnitude of the task involved, the desire to open our hospice captured everyone's interest and support.  Since then, it has been gratifying to see the development of St Catherine's role at the heart of the community - long may this continue!"
