Crowds spring up at New Horizons Garden and Produce Fair
Green-fingered enthusiasts enjoyed browsing high-quality stalls at The New Horizons Appeal Garden and Produce Fair in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice on Thursday (17 May.)
Held in the exclusive grounds of Cuckfield Park, and supported by Thakeham Homes and Strutt and Parker, the fair has become known as West Sussex’s mini Chelsea.
Nearly 200 people enjoyed a special bubbly breakfast and sneak preview of stalls ahead of general public entrance.
Chantry Green, a family-run professional gardening business from Storrington, had a stall at the fair for the first time. Chantry Green owner, Miles Hayward said: “We got the chance to talk about plants all day, while helping to raise money for a very important local cause.”
Suzanne Connor, New Horizons Appeal Co-ordinator at St Catherine’s said: “It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the spring sunshine and browsing the brilliant stalls on offer. I’d like to thank the stall holders, and the New Horizons Appeal Committee for their amazing, continuing support of St Catherine’s. Their generosity makes a real difference to local terminally ill people in the community around us. Currently, we can only care for one in three local people who need our hospice. Thanks to the support of fundraising groups like the New Horizons Appeal, and people who attend their events, in future, we’ll be able to care for even more people.”
The New Horizons Appeal has supported St Catherine’s since 1989. During this time, the voluntary committee has raised more than £2 million for the local hospice. Other events include a lunch club, charity golf day and Autumn Gift Fair.
