Community gathers together for Memory Meadow
Around 200 people joined us for our annual Memory Meadow event in Reigate’s Priory Park on Saturday (15 June.)
Led by Reverend Lisa Rainier, our Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy Lead, the event gave people, of all ages, a chance to remember someone they love.
The event, which included live music and readings, took place next to the tranquil Memory Meadow, which sits as a living tribute to loved ones near Priory Park’s lake.
People also remembered someone special by writing messages to hang on a memory tree, and children decorated plant pots. Everyone attending was given a pack of sunflower seeds to take home. And it’s hoped the sunflowers will remind people of bright and colourful memories with loved ones as they grow.
Reverend Lisa Rainier said: “I’d like to thank everyone who joined us at Memory Meadow. And I hope people gained comfort from coming together with others in their community to remember someone special to them.”
As well as caring for local terminally ill people, our expert teams provide counselling, bereavement and spiritual support to people’s families and friends. Memory events and public bereavement groups in Crawley and Oxted are part of the care that we offer people to help them through the most difficult of times.
