Student Volunteering Week – NCS Crawley

News and Blog

This Student Volunteering Week, we’re celebrating all our student volunteers at St Catherine’s Hospice. Our volunteers not only give their time to help out teams around the hospice, but many also support us with our fundraising. The National Citizen Service (NCS) is the country’s fastest growing youth movement for all teenagers aged 15-27 to discover who they are and what they can do. They run a four-phase programme, specifically designed to provide participants with all sorts of new experiences including an adventure week, a week of self-discovery, social action and celebration.

During the social action week of their last programme in 2018, the students at NCS Crawley volunteered their time to support St Catherine’s through their fundraising. They contributed 812 project planning hours and 830 project delivery hours including organising a sponsored dog walk, a flash mob, a pub quiz, and creating a branded mural. They also engaged more than 300 people, collected £370 worth of goods through donations and raised an incredible £1455 for us!

Below, the students and their team leaders give us their top five fundraising tips:

Thank you to all the student volunteers at NCS Crawley for their amazing work!
