Dragon Boats raises thousands for our hospice

News and Blog

Tilgate Park reverberated with the beat of Dragon Boat drummers on Saturday (7 September) as 20 local businesses battled it out on the lake in a day of fun, competitive racing and team bonding, to raise vital funds for our hospice.

Teams included our very own St Catherine’s team who came in a wonderful 5th place.

After a thrilling series of races, Siemens were crowned Dragon Boats champions 2025 and proudly lifted the trophy.

Katrina Shaw from Siemens said, “We’ve been taking part in Dragon Boats for nine years and it’s the first time we’ve ever come close to being in the final, and then to win was amazing! The whole team enjoyed the day because St Catherine’s is a cause close to all of our hearts. It’s such a good, well organised event. The team spirit is great and it’s an event we’re proud to be a part of.”

Nina Gopal, Strategic Partnerships Manager at our hospice said, “Seeing so many businesses join together to support St Catherine’s was really inspiring. We are so grateful for their support and we hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did. I’d also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the colleagues and volunteers who made the event possible.“

Plans are already underway for next year’s Dragon Boats event so if you know a business or work at a company that would like to get involved, please email our Partnerships Team on: corporate@stch.org.uk – we’d love to hear from anyone who might be interested in taking part.
