Join our Carers Walk and Talk Group during Carers Week

News and Blog

At St Catherine’s Hospice, we recognise that caring for a loved one can be very rewarding, but also stressful and overwhelming. Many carers find that their own mental and physical health can be impacted by their caring role; that is why we’re committed to providing them with high quality guidance and support.

On Monday 8 June from 2pm-4pm, during Carers Week 2026, we’re hosting a Carers Walk and Talk Group at Tilgate Park in Crawley, open to carers whose loved one is currently being cared for by the hospice.

Taking a route around Tilgate Lake, attendees will walk alongside others who truly understand what it’s like to care for someone you love who is unwell. After the walk, attendees can stay for refreshments in the cafe, if they wish.

Steph Finch, Carer Support Worker at St Catherine’s, said:

As little as 15 minutes in nature can help reduce mental fatigue, increase focus, and enhance self-esteem. And walking in nature improves mental health by lowering stress hormones, boosting mood through endorphin release, and can ease feeling of anxiety or depression.

Attendance at the walk is free but places are limited and booking is required; if you’re interested, please contact the Wellbeing Team on 01293 447333 or email stch.wellbeing@nhs.net to find out more information.

If you are unable to attend but would like to find out more about how St Catherine’s can support you in your caring role, you can visit our Carer Support webpage, view our other upcoming classes on our Wellbeing Calendar, or contact our Wellbeing Team.
