Marking Hospice Care Week 9-15 October

News and Blog

This week is Hospice Care Week (9-15 October) where we’re recognising and celebrating hospice care nationwide.

It’s an opportunity to raise awareness of what expert end of life care looks like and acknowledge the difference our support has on people’s lives in our community.

This year’s Hospice Care Week is focussing on hospices’ workforce, under the theme: ‘We are hospice care’.

Hospices across the UK support more than 300,000 people every year and the need is growing. We know that hospices, including St Catherine’s, can struggle to fill the vital roles needed to look after dying patients and their families. Without people to fill these roles, hospices, like ours, will struggle to provide our expert palliative and end of life care that everyone should be able to access when they need it.

That’s why, this Hospice Care Week, we’re sharing this film of one of our wonderful and busy receptionists, Angela, who ensures all our visitors are given a warm welcome and are well looked after during their time with us.

Angela talks about her role, what she enjoys most and what inspired her to join our expert team. Enjoy!

And if this inspires you to want to join our team you can find out more here. Happy Hospice Care Week!
