More of our fabulous fundraisers!

News and Blog

It’s time to celebrate some more of the amazing people across our community who are raising much-needed funds for the hospice. Their hard work, creativity, and generosity means we can continue to care for local families living with a life-limiting condition.

First up we’re giving a huge shoutout to our secondary schools!

Imberhorne Sixth Form organised a movie night for the year seven students. From the sale of tickets and yummy refreshments they raised a fantastic £600. As well as helping St Catherine’s to care for local families that need us, this event was also a great way for the business students to learn about budgeting and teamwork as part of their curriculum.

Sackville Sixth Form have also been perfecting their event management skills by hosting a charity quiz night for their fellow students, staff, governors, and family members alike. Not only that, but to celebrate Eid, staff and students put on a delicious spread of food which the school community could enjoy in return for a donation to St Catherine’s. Through their creative fundraising Sackville have raised a staggering £1200 for our hospice.

Meanwhile the year 13 pupils at Oriel High School organised something a little more physical (and messy) and lead a Rainbow Run for their year 7 students. We hear that the event was enormous fun and are hugely thankful to all the students for raising a monumental £2747 for St Catherine’s.

Next we’re celebrating Paul Birch – one of the ambitious individuals taking on our trek to Petra in November.

As the trek edges ever nearer, all of our challengers continue to plug away at their fundraising target. Paul recently held a quiz night at Horsham Football Club. Including an exciting raffle, the evening raised £810. Collectively our Petra trekkers have now raised more than £46,000 for our hospice – an outstanding amount that really will make such a difference.

At the start of April, Kerry Avis held a ladies’ lunch at Da Nico in Crawley.

Kerry’s father was cared for by St Catherine’s and every year she organises this special fundraising meal in his memory. With generous support from local businesses, this year Kerry has raised an incredible £1980.

Last but not least we’re celebrating everyone who took part in the eleventh Balcombe Bull Run.

The 7km run takes participators through some stunning rural locations and across the beautiful Sussex countryside. It was wonderful to welcome Mat and Michelle – who organise the event – to our new hospice to thank them for raising £1500 for St Catherine’s at this year’s event.

A massive thank you and well done to all our fabulous fundraisers. Your support means we can continue to care for local families across Sussex and East Surrey who are facing death and loss.
