Our nursing and medical team are vital at St Catherine’s Hospice. Our incredible nurses, nursing assistants and doctors offer 24-hour specialist medical and clinical care, both on our Inpatient Unit and out in the community.
We are always looking for people to join our nursing team and help us deliver this expert care to more people, so that no one has to face life with a terminal illness alone.
“Six years ago, my Nanny was cared for by St Catherine’s so I knew the amazing care the hospice provided. Now I’m a nurse on the hospice Inpatient Unit giving people the same support my Nanny and family received.
I’d no idea I’d end up working at St Catherine’s but I love my job. Getting to know a person, learning what’s important to them, and caring for them at the scariest, most vulnerable time of their life is an honour.
Whether it’s finding someone the right medication or flushing a chemo line, we use our nursing expertise to help manage people’s pain and complex symptoms. At other times, we simply hold someone’s hand, bring them a cup of tea, or help them feel safe at a time of uncertainty. That’s as important as the physical care we give.”
Our patients are the best people to hear from when it comes to our care. Our team make a huge difference to our patients, and to their loved one’s as well. By joining us, you’ll be a part of that, allowing us to reach even more people who need us as they face death and loss.
"While my mum was on holiday, I had a seizure and was very distressed emotionally so I had a short stay in St Catherine’s Inpatient Unit. It was this stay that changed my perspective. I was treated with respect, compassion and dignity, and the Nursing Team were absolutely lovely. I decided I’d like my end of life care to be here."Read more
"With St Catherine’s help I’ve had the time and energy to write down my last wishes and make sure my house will go to my son. I was in such a bad place with it all, and I couldn’t face up to what was happening to me. With the support from St Catherine’s, I’ve been able to address my illness and think about the future.
