The London Marathon is one of the greatest marathons in the world, and also known as one of the most inclusive. Running any marathon is a huge challenge but every year a wide range of ability levels, ages, and costume wearers take part in this 26.2 mile running challenge. You can expect hundreds of people cheering you on as you run through the streets of London, including our dedicated St Catherine’s Hospice cheerers, they to keep your spirits high with enthusiasm and energy-boosting snacks.
We always suggest for anyone interested in running the London Marathon to enter the ballot. The public ballot entry system for the 2019 London Marathon opens on Monday 30 April and closes at 5pm on Friday 4 May. What are you waiting for?!
London Marathon training help
Taking on a marathon is a huge challenge, so we have set up an exclusive online running group for St Catherine’s Hospice runners where you can share tips and training plans, and maybe even find running partners. We will also invite you to training sessions and seasoned marathon runners will be on hand for advice whether you’re aiming to beat a specific time or just finish the challenge.
Other reasons to run the London Marathon with St Catherine’s Hospice
- Free transport by bus to the start line: avoid the pre-race stress of fighting against the crowds
- Your own running vest, with your name written across the front so that the crowds know who to cheer for
- St Catherine’s Hospice on-the-day cheerers to help keep you running.
