We’re in week 10 of our hospice build!

New Hospice News

Paul Rycroft, our New Build and Collaboration Director, gives an update on how the building of our new hospice is progressing

“We have now completed 10 weeks of the main build programme at our site in Pease Pottage. The good weather has meant that work has progressed well with piling finishing on the 29th April.

The current phase of work is now to put in place the ground beams

These reinforced beams of concrete form the network of foundations that are the base to build the steel framework up from. Each of the sections of reinforcing are built up by hand on site, positioned to bridge across the piles and then shuttered so that the concrete can be poured into place.

Although the site starts to look something reminiscent of an archaeological dig, you can now make out the layout of our new building and see where each of the ground floor rooms will be

As well as progressing our build we’ve been able to show a number of visitors around the site and keep the adjacent community up to date by distributing a newsletter and posting on their local social media channels.”
