The St Catherine’s Hospice website uses cookies to improve your experience while you navigate through our website.
What is a Cookie?
A cookie is a piece of data that a website can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your computer as an anonymous tag that identifies your computer but not you. You should note that cookies cannot read data off of your hard drive. Your web browser may allow you to be notified when you are receiving a cookie, giving you the choice to accept it or not. By not accepting cookies, some pages may not fully function and you may find it harder to access certain information on this site.
Some pages on this site use “cookies,” which are small files that the site places on your hard drive for identification purposes. These files may be used for site registration and customisation the next time you visit us, and to make navigating our website more user-friendly.
How we use Cookies
We use cookies to make sure you get the most from your visit. They improve your website experience because certain features work best with cookies. Feedback and information from the cookies can also help make our website better. Here are the main types of cookies and what they do:
- Necessary Cookies. A cookie falls into this category if it is essential to the operation of our website, supporting functions such as logging in, your shopping basket, and payment transactions.
- Session Cookies which help with form filling, remembering the information input when navigating between pages. These are destroyed when the browser window is closed.
- Functional Cookies allow us to provide additional functions and track and store your individual preferences to improve your experience.
- Analytics Cookies for monitoring how you use our website. This information can help us to improve our website and your experience using it.
- Advertising Cookies. These could be first-party cookies which track your behaviour on our website so we can better understand your needs and personalise your experience. They can also be third party cookies which gather information about the way you use our website and track your usage to show you more relevant, targeted ads based on your browsing behaviour.
Links to other websites
We often provide a link to other websites to help provide you with extra information or services. For example, to make it easy for you to access related healthcare information. But remember, these websites may use cookies that we do not control, so be sure to check how they use your information.
How to turn browser cookies on and off
You can use your browser to determine which type of cookies are allowed. The process for enabling or disabling browser cookies may vary, depending on the web browser you use. Here is some information on the most popular browsers so that you can learn how to update your privacy settings no matter what browser you have.
