Set a Realistic Target: Be realistic in setting your fundraising goal. It’s essential that potential donors perceive your target as achievable. People are more likely to contribute if they believe their donation will make an impact.

Your Fundraising Hub: Advertising and promoting your fundraising efforts has never been easier. Our Fundraising Hub has a wide range of customisable resources to help you spread the word and reach your fundraising goals – whether you’re hosting a community event, taking on a challenge, or wanting to thank those who supported you. Results take minutes and your personalised materials can be printed or downloaded in a format that suits you. Visit the Fundraising Hub webpage and get started today.

Use Tap to Donate, our brand-new app, to collect contactless donations securely via your smartphone. You simply download the easy-to-use app; then your supporters can donate by tapping their debit card, Apple Pay or mobile wallet. Tap to Donate is available for both Apple and Android phones, so whether you want to collect donations from colleagues at work, gather sponsorship for an event from friends and family, receive donations for cakes or crafts, or even on the start line of your next race – it’s a simple, hassle-free way for people to support you and our hospice. To request Tap to Donate fundraising for your phone, please complete our quick form which will be sent to our Fundraising Team. Leverage Online Platforms: Take advantage of online fundraising platforms like JustGiving. They make it easy for you to set up your campaign, tell your story to a wider audience, and collect donations.

Tell Your Story: Craft a compelling and heartfelt story that explains why your cause matters. Share your personal connection to our charity, and let potential donors know how their contributions will make a difference. Share your story on your JustGiving page, your social media, or with the local press.

Remember you’re a hospice hero, so don’t be shy about sharing your amazing efforts. Download our handy press release template and send it to local newspapers and magazines. You can find their contact details by searching online. If you’d like a quote from our team to include, or any other help and advice, please email fundraising@stch.org.uk or call 01293 447361.

Utilise Social Media: Promote your fundraising campaign on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Share your story, updates, and milestones, and encourage your friends and followers to share your cause with their networks. Make sure you tag us in your posts so that we can like and share them too!

Engage Your Network: Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends, family, and colleagues – personal connections are often the most willing supporters. Send personalised messages, emails, or make phone calls to explain your mission and ask for their support.

Host Fundraising Events: Organise events, both online and offline, to engage your community. Virtual events like webinars or live streaming sessions can be just as effective as in-person gatherings. If there’s a chance for you to speak to those attending you could share a bit more about who we are, why our work matters, and how their support makes a difference. Please feel free to read this script about our hospice. It may also boost your fundraising!

Show Gratitude: Express your gratitude to every donor. Send personalised thank-you notes or messages, and let them know how their contribution has made a difference.

Keep Costs in Check: Be mindful of fundraising expenses. Try to keep costs low so that a significant portion of the funds you raise can go towards our hospice.

Embrace Perseverance: Fundraising as an individual can be a marathon, not a sprint. Stay patient and persistent, even when you encounter setbacks or slower periods in your journey.

By following these top fundraising tips, you’ll increase your chances of success while making a meaningful impact. Remember, your dedication and enthusiasm could also inspire your friends and family to join you in supporting your mission!
