Your chance to shine at St Catherine’s Midnight Walk

News and Blog

St Catherine’s Hospice flagship fundraiser, the Midnight Walk, is back but not as you know it! To celebrate 10 years of our annual walk, we’ve ripped up the rulebook for our biggest celebration yet.

With three brand new walking routes, and the chance for men and children over 10 to take part for the first time ever, this year, nobody has to miss out on this unforgettable night.

Taking place in Horsham on Saturday 10 June, the walk, sponsored by Gatwick Airport, starts at 10pm and offers a choice of seven, 13 or 20 mile walking routes. While you choose what distance you tackle, one thing’s for certain, by taking part you’ll help make a difference to terminally ill people at one of the hardest times of their lives.

Peter Kersley, 31, daughter, Megan, 13 and his mother-in-law, Diane, have already signed up. Peter said: “My wife, Lauren, was cared for by St Catherine’s, in our home and at the hospice. Sadly, it’s not until you need the hospice’s care that you realise how special it is. I can’t wait to walk alongside hundreds of other people to help raise money so that St Catherine’s can be there to provide its special care for others. By coincidence, this year’s walk falls on mine and Lauren’s wedding anniversary, and I can’t think of a better way to remember my wonderful wife.”

Last year, nearly 400 women walked overnight to raise an incredible £65,000, but we’re hoping even more of you will pull on your walking shoes to help us raise even more this year.

Melanie Wrightson, Community Engagement Manager  at Gatwick Airport, said: “We’re really proud to be sponsoring such a special year of St Catherine’s Midnight Walk. We can’t wait to help our local hospice celebrate, and we hope you’ll  join us for what is already shaping up to be a truly fabulous evening.”

With a big anniversary to celebrate and chance for everyone to join in, there’s never been a better year to rally your troops and step out under the stars to support us as your local hospice.

Now’s your time to shine – will you take it?
