Open Week: Saying Goodbye to Malthouse Road

News and Blog

The move to our new state-of-the-art hospice is fast approaching. We are really excited to start our next chapter in Pease Pottage where we will be able to support more local families that need us.

We recognise that Malthouse Road carries so many poignant and powerful memories of those we have cared for over the last 40 years. To allow people to say their farewells to our current site we are holding an open week from Monday 2 October to Sunday 8 October.

Each day, from 9am-6pm, you are welcome to come into the hospice, write in our book of remembrance, and take time to reflect. Refreshments will be available for you to enjoy, and staff will be on hand if you would like any support. You are also welcome to spend time in the main garden; please note access to the patient gardens will not be available.

To respect the comfort and privacy of those currently staying with us, access to the Octagon and the Quiet Room will be limited to between 9am and 11am each day. If you wish to spend time in these areas, please do visit during these times.

From Monday to Wednesday, and on the weekend, our Spiritual Care team will lead a moment of shared reflection at 10:30am in the Quiet Room, to remember those we have cared for. This is open for everyone to attend.

There is no need to book your visit in advance, just head to the main reception upon your arrival and the team will be very happy to welcome you. There is limited parking on site, or you can park for free on Malthouse Road for up to four hours.

This is a special and significant time in the history of St Catherine’s, and we are really looking forward to welcoming our community to Malthouse Road one final time.

Come and see our new home!

As we look forward, we are also excited to welcome you to our new home in Pease Pottage. We will be running a series of guided tours and open visits of our new hospice between 2 – 18 November, so you can see our new state-of-the-art facility for yourself.
