Welfare Advice
When living with a life-limiting illness, money worries and managing care-related paperwork can feel overwhelming and confusing. Our Welfare Advisor can give advice and support to you and your family.
We can provide information about financial and practical issues like
- disabled parking badges
- applying for benefits and grants
- making wills
- appointing a lasting power of attorney
- resources to support you with the rising cost of living.
Who can ask for Welfare advice and support
All of our support is free to anyone in West Sussex and East Surrey that has been referred to St Catherine’s Hospice.
If you would like to see or speak to our Welfare Advisor or find out more about how we can help you, please ask any of the St Catherine’s Hospice Team or call 01293 447345.
Supporting Carers
We also support carers who might also qualify for benefits or need some practical support of their own. Please see our Carer Support pages for more information.

Tell Us Once
Tell Us Once is a service that reports a death to most government organisations in one go, including Department for Work and Pensions, HMRC, local council, passport office, DVLA and some public sector pension schemes. When a death is registered the Registrar will provide contact details for Tell Us Once, and contact can be made either on-line or by telephone.
