Traditionally, the festive season is a time for us to celebrate with family and friends, but we know that for those who are bereaved, it’s a time when loved ones are missed even more.
It can be a lonely time for many, so we invite you to join others in your community at our Tree of Light event on Sunday 14 December to reflect and remember those you have lost.
Booking is essential. You can book to attend during one of the following time slots:
- 10am to 11am (sold out)
- 11am to 12pm (sold out)
- 12pm to 1pm (sold out)
- 1pm to 2pm (sold out)
- 2pm to 3pm (sold out)
- 3pm to 4pm (sold out)
- 4pm to 5pm (sold out)
You can arrive anytime within your booked session, but please arrive no more than 15 minutes before the end.

If you’re unable to attend one of our sessions, you can still visit our hospice reception between 8.30am and 6pm from Monday 8 December to write an in-memory star and sign our book of remembrance. We’ll hang your star on one of our beautifully lit Christmas trees displayed around the hospice and hold you and your loved one in our thoughts this season.
You could also attend a Tree of Light satellite service:

At Tree of Light you can hang a star, sign our Book of Remembrance, and make a donation in memory of your loved one if you wish.

Refreshments will be available to purchase from our Woodgate Cafe before and after. All profits from the cafe support our specialist care.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Tree of Light service will be hosted at St Catherine’s Hospice, Grace Holland Avenue, Pease Pottage, RH11 9SL.
Last year, many people told us how much they valued the chance to come to the hospice with their families and have time together to honour their loved ones and acknowledge their loss in a held and supportive space.
Information about how to get to our hospice, including via public transport, can be found on our Contact Us page.
The St Catherine’s Hospice car park will be available for parking during the event. Parking is limited and we request you car share with friends and family where possible or take public transport.
If the car park becomes full, we may have to ask you to park elsewhere. Please allow plenty of time.
Due to the costs involved, this year we will not be sending stars out in advance. There will be stars available to write on the day.
If you’re unable to attend our Tree of Light event, you can visit our hospice reception from Monday 8 December to write a star. We’ll hang your dedication on one of our beautifully lit Christmas trees which will be up in the hospice after our Tree of Light event. We will hold you and your loved one in our thoughts this season.
Our reception is open seven days a week, between 8.30am and 6pm.
Due to the costs involved, this year we will not be printing a book of remembrance ahead of the service. During the event, you will have the opportunity to sign a book of remembrance, which will then be kept at the hospice over the festive period.
If you are not able to attend on Sunday 14 December, you can visit our hospice reception another time to sign the book of remembrance. The book will be located in the reception from Monday 8 December. Our reception is open seven days a week, between 8.30am and 6pm.
Our Woodgate Hub will be open as usual, where you can purchase refreshments. We would love you to join us for a cup of coffee and slice of cake. All profits from the cafe fund St Catherine’s vital work.
