Blooming Success for New Horizons Garden and Local Produce Fair

News and Blog

Green-fingered enthusiasts enjoyed browsing high-quality stalls at The New Horizons Appeal Garden and Local Produce Fair in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice yesterday (18 May.)

Held in the exclusive grounds of Cuckfield Park, and supported by Thakeham Homes and Strutt and Parker, the fair which has become known as West Sussex’s mini Chelsea, was officially opened by Sir Nicholas Soames‎ MP, and Mr and Mrs Mayou, owners of Cuckfield Park.

People enjoyed a special bubbly breakfast and took the chance to have a sneak preview of stalls ahead of general public entrance. An artisan ice cream bike proved popular, and people also took the chance to chat with gardening expert, Pippa Greenwood and Jean Griffin from BBC Sussex Radio.

Suzanne Connor, New Horizons Appeal Co-ordinator at St Catherine’s said: “It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the spring sunshine and browsing the brilliant stalls that were on offer. The fair was another great success, and we’d like to thank all the stall holders, and the New Horizons Appeal Committee for their amazing, continuing support of St Catherine’s. Their generosity makes a real difference to the people we care for at one of the hardest times of their lives.”

The New Horizons Appeal has supported St Catherine’s since 1989. During this time, the voluntary committee has raised more than £2 million for the local hospice with the support of people who attend their events, which also include a lunch club, charity golf day and Autumn Gift Fair.
