Celebrating 62 Years of Love: Sally and Simon’s Anniversary at Our Hospice

News and Blog

Huge congratulations to Sally and Simon Ames, who celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary at our hospice on Sunday!

Our Catering team prepared a special cake and delivered it to their room with a bunch of flowers. Sally and Simon said:

“We got married on 8 December 1962, so celebrated our diamond wedding anniversary two years ago and got a card from King Charles and Queen Camilla.

“We weren’t expecting to celebrate this year, so were gobsmacked when the cooks and nurses bought in a wonderful lemon curd cake – it was a total surprise. We were unbelievably touched by their kindness, and the cake tasted simply divine!

“Our two grandsons – Ben and Barney Ames – were here with us too and bought in flowers and cards from all the family.”

We asked Sally and Simon what their secret was to a long and happy marriage. They said, “It’s harmony, respect, love, patience, and understanding. All couples have their ups and downs, but we are incredibly lucky to still be in love.”

Congratulations Sally and Simon.
