Families honour their loved ones at Tree of Light

News and Blog

On Sunday 14 December, we were honoured to welcome more than 300 guests to the hospice for our Tree of Light event.

Our Wellbeing Centre and Reflective Space were beautifully transformed with illuminated trees, providing a peaceful setting for guests to hang stars in memory of their loved ones. Attendees were also invited to write messages in the Book of Remembrance and spend quiet moments reflecting, with our wellbeing team available throughout the event to offer support. Guests enjoyed refreshments in the Woodgate Cafe afterwards.

Selena King, Spiritual and Anticipatory Care Lead, said

“Over the day, it was deeply heartwarming to hear people share stories of those they love and miss, and to hear just how much the hospice has meant to them. Many spoke of special memories made here, and of the gratitude they feel in being able to return, especially at this time of year.”

The Trees of Light will remain on display around the hospice until the end of December, allowing patients, families, staff, and visitors the opportunity to pause, reflect, and remember throughout the festive season.

If you would like to hang a star on one of our trees or write in the Book of Remembrance, you can do so by visiting the hospice anytime Monday to Sunday between 8.30am and 6pm until the end of December 2025.

We would like to thank everyone who attended for taking the time to be with us and for their generous donations. We truly are privileged to be part of such a caring and supportive community.
