Tilgate Park was filled with the sound of music as St Catherine’s Hospice festival-inspired event, Live at the Lake, returned for a second year of fun this weekend.

Taking place across two days for the first time, over 4,000 visitors enjoyed a range of family friendly entertainment including a games tent, glitter station, inflatables and merchandise stalls. On Friday evening (6 September), the original Brother from Another took to the stage to warm up the crowd with unique covers of all their favourite songs. Headliners, Best of WHAM! then took to the stage to get the crowd go-going to some of WHAM!’s biggest hits including  Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and Club Tropicana.

Turning up the volume on the Saturday (7 September) were three of the UK’s biggest tribute bands, supported by the brilliant The Bendecho Brothers and Angel Delights. Following an energetic performance from the Rocket Man himself Elite Elton,  the Stayin’ Alive crew brought the Saturday Night Fever before, ABBA Forever gave a Super Trouper performance as the festival headliners, with their set list including all the classics such as Dancing Queen, Money, Money, Money, Waterloo, Mamma Mia and Chiquita!

Elite Elton said: “The atmosphere at Live at the Lake was incredible and I had such a great time! It was brilliant to see so many local people enjoying the festival, and knowing that we were helping to raise vital funds for a local charity made the day even more special. Thank you to everyone who came to support us and St Catherine’s”.

St Catherine’s is delighted with the support for their first two day Live at the Lake event. Hannah Liles, Events Project Fundraiser at St Catherine’s, said: “We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us over the weekend. We had a brilliant time and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Currently, St Catherine’s can only care for one in three people who need us, but with our community’s support, in the future, we want to be there for everyone who needs us.”
